Day Spas in New York, by city

3,173 day spas in 227 cities. Every city page ranks the businesses in it by rating and review count, with featured placements marked.

New York's spa trade looks different depending on where you stand. In Manhattan it runs from Chinatown massage rooms on the Bowery that take walk-ins into the evening to thermal bathhouses in Flatiron and Tribeca, hotel spa floors on Park Avenue and doctor-led med spas in the Flatiron District. Brooklyn adds Russian banyas with steam rooms and ice pools, Flushing has Korean-style women's saunas beside dozens of massage and facial studios, and Queens neighborhoods from Astoria to Forest Hills each carry their own short list.

Upstate, the shape changes. Rochester, Buffalo, Syracuse and Albany each carry a mix of salon spas, standalone massage practices and skin studios. Saratoga Springs has Roosevelt Baths & Spa among its day spas, and in the mountains the spa often comes with a stay: Whiteface Lodge and the Spa at Mirror Lake Inn in Lake Placid, Kenoza Hall in the Catskills. Long Island fills in between, with day spas from Massapequa and Commack out to Westhampton Beach and the Hamptons.

Every city and town on this page links to its own list of spas. Each listing shows what that spa offers, taken from its own menu: massage styles, facials, body wraps and scrubs, sauna and steam rooms, pools, couples rooms, spa day packages and med spa procedures. Where a spa's menu did not say, the listing says that too rather than guessing. Smaller towns with only one or two spas, far from the nearest city, keep a page of their own so a local search still lands somewhere useful.

A note on licensing. Massage therapy is a licensed profession in New York, and the State Education Department's Office of the Professions lets anyone check a therapist's license online. Estheticians, nail technicians and waxers are licensed by the Department of State. Injections such as Botox and fillers, IV therapy and most laser work count as medical procedures in New York and need a medical license, so it is worth asking who will perform them before you book at a med spa.
